Boa noite,
After talking in class about the change in perceptions when it comes to women nowadays, I thought it would be interesting to share with you this picture that makes you think about how women are being judged sometimes only by the way they dress.
The photo was taken by a 18 year old girl from Vancouver that tried to depict the stereotypes that we are all facing everyday. Her idea came to her from trying to use the measuring that we use in everyday housework to measure the amount of judgment people show regarding women's way of dressing: "[I wanted to] take the idea of impersonal, supposedly objective, measurement of things and put it on something that we do measure, but we don't talk about," she said. "We measure women the same way we measure water in cylinders, but no one says it because it's mean."
I think the photo is a visually articulated idea that we all tend to judges the book only by its cover, without even acknowledging it sometimes.
Hope you find it interesting!
Have a great evening!

I love the picture and its message, Raluca. Can you please tell us the name of the photographer? Add it to your post. Thanks.
ResponderEliminarThe picture was taken by Rosea Lake, who is the 'head' behind this idea and the legs are her friend's, Ali MacKenzie. It all started as a small project, a reaction to people's judgement regard women. But they did not expect it to become this viral.
