Anti-Logos to pressure sponsors to withdraw from Qatar 2022 World Cup

Hello everyone,

For all the football fans out there, here are some news about the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

During the construction of the stadiums, over 900 workers have died and the estimates say that the number will probably reach 4,000 people by the time they will end. Also, the migrant workers' passports were confiscated upon entry into Qatar, meaning that they could not leave whenever they please and that employers can even withhold pay from them without them having the possibility to react. Taking into consideration the high temperatures that can be found in Qatar, one can only imagine the conditions of labor.
As a reaction, people have begun drawing and sharing anti-advertisments featuring major sponsors that continue to support the World Cup.
We have here the example of how much can a logo say about a problem found in our society and how, as Naomi Klein mentioned in No Logo, 'as more people discover the brand-name secrets of the global logo web, their outrage will fuel the next big political movement'. Maybe this is what we are seeing in this situation also.
Take a look and tell me what you think.

  1. Now this is a good post! Football is the biggest circus of our times and it is so omnipresent in our lives. One can not simply live without the media or people in general talking about it. It is good for the business, for while everyone is distracted nobody is complaining. In this post it is more than evident how lobbies in football are connected with big corporations. I hope this kind of manifestation expands to a bigger audience. People need to know how meaningless football is.

  2. Not only do people need to know how meaningless football is but also to understand that no World Cup is more important than the lives of others. What i found interesting in this article was that people tried to make a change, even when they know they are against large corporations like Coca Cola or McDonalds. A true example of 'How to change the world' :)
